About Volusia Pines Elementary

Volusia Pines Elementary School opened its doors to students on August 19, 1996. Our school is a focal point for the communities of Lake Helen, Cassadaga, Deltona and is a source of pride for members of all three communities.  The Volusia Pines Staff is a loyal and dedicated group of professionals.  Everyone is committed to helping students build positive character and improve academic achievement.  All of our teachers are in field and highly qualified.

The teachers, staff, parents, community members, and students are very active within our school and in the community.  Our school has an active PTA that sponsors numerous fundraising activities including CiCi's Pizza Nights, Texas Roadhouse, and Chik-Fil-A Nights.  Our art department has an Art Club, and features our students' art work at the Volusia County Fair and at the Creative Arts Show in Ormond Beach.  In Music, the students participate in Music Club as well as the Tree Lighting Ceremony every year at Blake Park in Lake Helen.  Volusia Pines is a hands on science campus.  The students participate with the upkeep of the koi pond; assist with the purple martins, and the National Wildlife garden on our campus.  The students participate in the Science Fair, Science Club, and enjoy the Mr. Electricity program from FPL.  Besides focusing on science, Volusia Pines students actively participate in Reading Counts and Book-It.  Some students participated with the Daytona Speedway and were Race to Read, while others participated with the Daytona Beach Clubs to Hit the Books.  The students were awarded tickets to those events for reading.  We are fortunate to the Rotary Club donate student dictionaries to each of the third graders.

The parents, students and faculty at Volusia Pines have been extremely generous helping out charity organizations by donating to the penny drive so fifth graders could donate to Journey's End Animal Sanctuary and the Jump Rope for Heart was another successful event to benefit the American Heart Association.  Our students and parents collect Campbell Soup labels and pop tops from cans as well as shop at Target to benefit our school.

The parent, student, staff and community members working as a team, allow Volusia Pines to receive the honor of being a Five Star School and a Golden School.
